Ayooni invites viewers to journey along the politically disputed separation wall marking the border between Israel and the Palestinian occupied territories. A camera rolls by the fence, moving horizontally, tracing strips of posters hung on the wall near East Jerusalem. The posters display words of love in three languages, alongside images from old Arabic movies. The editing relates to the separation wall as a reel of 35mm film, comparing movement along the wall to that of a movie projector feed wheel.
Accelerating the movement works the wall like a zoetrope device and animates the posters. The work emphasizes the conflict surrounding the wall construction, using controlling, surveillance and segregating technologies embodied by the concrete wall, as a platform not only for the emotional messages they carry, but for the display of vision technologies that make the deceitful nature of vision visible.
